After the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Janus v. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Council 31, Karin Housley, Minnesota state senator and Republican-endorsed candidate for United States Senate, issued the following statement:
“The Supreme Court’s ruling today is a win for the First Amendment and a win for Americans that value their constitutional freedoms. Individuals should not be forced to fund political activity they may find objectionable, nor should they be forced to pay a fee to keep their jobs – and I’m glad the Supreme Court agrees. Today’s ruling, simply put, is a victory for the American worker. Public unions wield unbelievable political power, bankrolling far-left, radical politicians like Tina Smith and forcing her to vote whichever way national Democrats want. In the United States Senate, I will reject business-as-usual from the political machines and will instead be a commonsense leader for all Minnesotans.”
