Tina Smith sides against Minnesota farmers on water rule

In response to Senator Tina Smith’s vote on Thursday to keep onerous Obama-era Waters of the United States (WOTUS) regulations in place, Karin Housley, Republican-endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate, issued the following statement:

“Tina Smith’s vote today showed – yet again – just how out-of-touch she is with Minnesota farmers. The ‘waters of the U.S.’ rule is an example of government gone too far, and instead of standing with farmers and landowners, Tina Smith is choosing to support radical, anti-agriculture policy that penalizes farmers and vastly expands government’s authority. As lieutenant governor, and now as a U.S. Senator, Tina Smith has taken her hostility toward Minnesota’s agricultural community to a new level – and it’s hardworking Minnesotans who suffer the consequences.”
